A Return On Wellness

A Global Wellness Economy- A Return On Wellness

Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel, Athens, Greece FOUR SEASONS

This month, the Global Wellness Institute will be hosting The Wellness Research and Trends Event of the Year. This media event is a wonderful opportunity to explore the latest in wellness innovations and to discover the opportunities of the 4.2 trillion global wellness economy.

We think it’s fair to say that wellness is no longer confined to the local gym but rather an integrative approach of mind, body, spirit  with wellness, hospitality and travel.

It is this holistic and experiential approach to wellness that the spa and hospitality industry can leverage new wellness experiences to boost their ROI for 2019.

Specifically, the global spa market grew from $94 billion in 2013 to $98.6 billion in 2015.  Hotel and premier property developments are now creating new ways to expand their spa offerings to capture their share of this wellness market.

Spa experiences are shifting away from shorter treatment options to longer outdoor excursions and unique experiential offerings.

“The future for wellness travel will be engaging people’s emotions as much as evidence-based healing,” according to the GWI report.

Blu Spas Case Study:: Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel – Athens

Working with the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, we had an opportunity to integrate this holistic wellness approach by embracing the legendary lifestyle of the Athens Riviera into their spa and fitness areas.

Inspired by the teaching of Hippocrates, the Four Seasons Athens Spa highlights seasonal rituals, ancient remedies and timeless wellness secrets into their spa offerings.

The Fountain House is a beautiful hydrotherapy zone inspired by an ancient Greek tradition called, Taking The Waters,  where guests move between various water features (lap pool with hydrotherapy circuit, aroma steam grotto, hammam, vitality pool, chill showers) and relaxation lounge.

The Four Seasons Athens spa and fitness project creates a balanced experience of relaxation and rejuvenation for the traveler, leaving them with a memorable wellness experience they’ll remember long after checkout.

“Thank you to Meyer Davis Studio (New York) for the layout planning and interior design.  Our gratitude to the Four Seasons project and operations team and Hill International project management group in Greece who were all simply amazing.” – Cary Collier
