Blu-Spas-Spa-&-Wellness-Trends 2016

We are grateful to be involved in an inspiring, global and growing industry of health, wellness and fitness. In celebration of this new year, we share with our favorite trends and give you a little personal insight to the Blu Spas Crew, and what we love to do!

Gazing far, far into the future … all the way into the rest of 2016, what do we expect to see in the spa, wellness & fitness  industry?

Spa Technology

There’s a continuing explosion of wellness-related technology with the potential to impact every facet of the  industry, from guest experience to operations to lifestyle enhancers. The examples in the technology category are nearly endless, but some of the concepts with which we’re most impressed range from new systems designed to improve dramatically the handling of water, including water consumption and filtration; a dizzying and varied array of apps, including scheduling, nutritional, inspirational; nearly every possible flavor of fitness coaching, and connectivity functions; and wearable technology offering immediate diagnostics, body mass measurements, personal training and more.

Spa Differentiators

Like many, we believe that industry disrupters will continue to crop up, much like Susie Ellis has noted in her 2016 trend “On-Demand: Uber-izing Spa & Wellness.” To borrow from the Buddhist saying, these disrupters are inevitable, but suffering is optional. As attractive and egalitarian as these anticipated stream-lined, direct-to-consumer options may be, there’ll remain an opportunity for spas to distinguish themselves from these upstarts by putting a spotlight on the uniqueness of the overall immersive experience that can be found only at spas.

We’re excited to see how these trends play out over the next twelve months and what other new innovations come to market. Let us know your thoughts.
